This webinar series is aimed at addressing questions our local and regional healthcare providers have about cannabis use and their patients. Our speakers come from a wide range of backgrounds and are experts in their respective fields. Funding for this series comes from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Cannabis Regulatory Agency.

Medical and Non-Medical Cannabis Use: Potential Implications on Cognition and Clinical Outcomes

Dr. Jodi Gilman is an Associate Professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the Director of Neuroscience at the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Addiction Medicine.

She is the kickoff speaker for the 6th Annual Cannabis in Practice Webinar Series hosted by the Livingston & Washtenaw County Health Department’s in partnership with the Washtenaw County Medical Society.

This event will:

  • Differentiate between various research methods used to study the effects of cannabis on various
    populations, including adolescents and adults with comorbid health conditions
  • Analyze cannabis’s neurological and cognitive impacts, focusing on differences in adolescents and adults
    with mental health disorders
  • Explore how changes in cannabis policy influence neuroscientific research and the understanding of
    cannabis’ effects on brain structure and function
  • Discuss how neuroscientific findings on cannabis use inform clinical decisions and public health
    guidelines, emphasizing evidence-based recommendations.
