Changing the Narrative: Addressing Stigma, Racism and Biases within the Peer Role

This training will help peers to define, discover, and manage stigma, racism, and implicit biases while working in the Peer role. They will learn how to address stigma, racism, and implicit biases while maintaining their ethical responsibilities. They will be given the tools to advocate and support recoverees as well as themselves while making good ethical considerations when they encounter stigma, racism, and implicit biases in the workplace and the community. They will learn all about social determinants and how it affects the population they support. They will also create an action plan to begin to participate in the advocacy of stigma, racism, implicit biases, and social determinants to increase the opportunity and enhance the wellness of the community.
