Kim Thalison, CPS, has been a dedicated member of the MCBAP Board since 2018. Throughout her tenure with MCBAP, Kim has taken on various leadership roles, including Vice-Chair of the Board, Chair of the Membership Committee, and Co-Chair of the Prevention Committee.

Kim currently serves as the Director of School Wellness and Prevention Services for the Eaton Regional Education Services Agency in Charlotte, MI, and lives in Clinton County.  She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baker College of Owosso and has previously worked with Mid-South Substance Abuse Commission, Bach-Harrison LLC, and the Barry Eaton District Health Department. Her extensive experience has shaped her passion for prevention services and substance use disorder education.

A career prevention specialist, she is committed to using data-driven approaches, such as the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), to address challenges and leverage available resources. She believes that prevention is key to mitigating the harmful impacts of substance misuse. As a Certified Prevention Ethics and Advanced Prevention Ethics Trainer, Kim plays a vital role in promoting ethical practices within the field.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys a variety of activities such as gardening, crafting, photography, and reading. She also loves watching her children participate in sports and re-watching her favorite movies.

Kim serves on the MCBAP Board to give back to the profession that has provided her with “professional purpose and joy.” She is a firm believer in the value of specialty substance use credentials, stating, “Credentials move us from good intentions to evidence-based, sustained changes that benefit the people and communities we serve.”
