Phillip Mosby has been dedicated to serving the substance use disorder professionals in Michigan since 1991, beginning with his role in the Michigan Substance Abuse Advisory. He transitioned to the MCBAP Board at its inception in 1996 and continues to advocate for individuals in recovery and those working in the field.

Phillip holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan and brings over 40 years of clinical experience in mental health and co-occurring services. His therapeutic approach emphasizes the importance of creating a confidential, trusting, and safe environment, which he believes is essential for personal growth. He is passionate about ensuring that individuals and families can express their thoughts and feelings without fear of ridicule or shame.

Phillip’s clinical expertise includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which he applies to address a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, substance use, grief, and relationship challenges. His person-centered approach focuses on meeting individuals where they are in their treatment, helping them feel understood, rebuild confidence, and cope with life’s stresses.

Throughout his tenure on the MCBAP Board, Phillip has been a strong advocate for those without advanced degrees, particularly individuals in recovery, believing they have much to offer in the field.
