“I am a person in long term recovery, what that means is that I have not used drugs or alcohol in over 20 years. I am motivated and passionate to serve as a MCBAP Board Member to assist, advocate and be a change agent for those wanting to work in the field of substance use disorder.”

Andria Walker joined the MCBAP Board of Directors in 2024, bringing with her a deep commitment to the field of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery. She holds three MCBAP credentials as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM). This combination of expertise areas makes her a welcome asset to the MCBAP Board.

She currently serves as the Clinical Director for the Detroit Recovery Project. Prior to that, she was the Senior Recovery Coach at the same agency. With extensive experience in providing compassionate care, Andria has dedicated her career to advocating for individuals battling addiction and mental health challenges. Her journey in this field is fueled by a passion for making a lasting impact on her community by ensuring that individuals receive the support they need to overcome their struggles.

Throughout her career, Andria has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence in service delivery. She brings a wealth of experience from her roles as a counselor, educator, and advocate for underserved populations. Her expertise in counseling, combined with her leadership in various health and wellness initiatives, has positioned her as a respected voice in the SUD field.

Andria’s inspiration for joining the MCBAP Board reflects her deep care for the field and the people it serves. She says, “I want to ensure that professionals have the proper training and resources to offer the best care possible to those suffering from addiction.” Furthermore, Andria emphasizes her collaborative approach, stating, “Working together as a team is essential to making lasting changes in the lives of individuals and their families.” These statements reflect her visionary approach and collaborative spirit, making her an invaluable asset to the Board and the broader recovery community.
