Cultural Appreciation Conference
Provider: Michigan School of Psychology
Category: Related
Hours: Participants seeking CEs will be required to sign in at the beginning of each session and must complete and submit the post-course evaluation at the end of the session.
Overview:
The goal of the Cultural Appreciation Conference (CAC), previously known as the Cultural Competency Conference (CCC), is to support current and future practitioners by providing an event where they have the opportunity to gain a larger foundation within cultural competencies and humility. The conference is centered around presenters who are knowledgeable and/or immersed in different cultural communities sharing their experiences, insights, research and wisdom. In 2023 the CAC planning committee decided to refocus the conference on cultural appreciation. We believe that this conference title better reflects the desire to strengthen attendee’s cultural competencies, awareness, and development of cultural humility.
The CAC is hosted by MSP’s Student Engagement team with representatives from the IDEA, ABPsi SC, MENAPC, and the Psi Chi Chapter at MSP. Students, Psychologists, Mental Health Professionals, and members of the public are invited to attend.
Conference Structure:
The conference runs from 1:30-7:30 PM on Friday, May 3, 2024. This year’s conference is hybrid. Participants may choose between online or in-person attendance. The conference consists of multiple concurrent rounds of presentations followed the keynote speaker. Presentations are 50-100 minutes long.
