Training Criteria:
This one-day training will equip service providers with information on how to provide better care for clients who have Substance Use Disorder (SUDs) by recognizing, and addressing, their own issues. This training will provide information about common issues that many SUD providers struggle with that negatively impact their work as professionals. The training will also provide information about common countertransference issues that many service providers have who are in recovery. Strategies will be provided to assist service providers in addressing their unaddressed issues to improve the service provided to SUD clients. Role-playing exercises, and case studies, will be provided.

Participants will be able to:
- Define transference.
- Define countertransference.
- Describe six common issues that many service providers have that negatively impact their work with SUD clients.
- Describe Common countertransference issues with providers who are in recovery.
- Describe strategies that assist service providers in addressing unaddressed issues in order to provide improved care for SUD clients.
