Overview:

Have you been hearing about Sound Baths and wanted to learn more? Have you wondered why some people never seem to get sick while others frequently catch colds or struggle with illness? A growing body of research exists related to Nature Deficit Disorder, and evidence-based practices like Eco-Therapy and Earthing to enhance health. New career and income opportunities exist for enterprising social workers interested in movement practices, sound resonance, and vibrational energies to address wellness. For example, interest in Qigong is quickly expanding. Qigong is slow physical movements originally practiced by ancient, indigenous peoples of China as medicine. Today, an estimated 500,000 to 2.5 million Americans practice Qigong to improve overall health and wellbeing. Evidence-based research support the use of Qigong to address myriad issues, including physical pain, anxiety/depression, ADHD, PTSD, coronary heart disease, and even fall prevention.

During this nature-based CE session, participants will learn about Eco-Therapy and engage in Qigong followed by a Sound Bath. Participants will explore: 1) Implicit bias and indigenous wellness practices; 2) Nature Deficit Disorder and Eco-therapy; 3) Trauma informed practice and Ethical considerations when engaging in energy wellness; and 4) flourishing opportunities that exist for social workers in the evolving, soon-to-be billion-dollar wellness industry.

During this session participants will:

1) Increase awareness about the influence of implicit bias on indigenous wellness practices.

2) Learn how to cultivate Qi (energy) to strengthen the body and reduce the potential for illness/disease.

3) Learn how vibrational energy and sound resonance can be used to dissolve emotional and physical blockages in the body that could potentially lead to disease states, inflammation, and physical pain.

4) Learn how tapping on the body’s meridians can reduce anxiety and release excess stress.

5) Learn about flourishing opportunities that exist for social workers in the soon-to-be billion dollar wellness industry.
