Jane Dika, LPC, CCS, CAADC, NCC
Treasurer, MCBAP Board of Directors

“One of the things I value most about MCBAP is that it is a strong, supportive, and mission-focused organization. We are clear about who we are and the role we play in protecting and strengthening the profession. I’m proud to be part of a board that keeps that purpose at the center of its work.”

Jane Dika has served on the MCBAP Board of Directors since 2018, bringing a thoughtful, direct, and experienced perspective to her role.

Her path into the substance use disorder (SUD) field was nontraditional. As an undergraduate at a university overseas, she developed a strong interest in psychology. After graduation, she returned to the United States and began working with adolescents in residential mental health. She later earned a master’s degree in counseling from Oakland University with a mental health specialization. When it came time to choose an internship, she selected a criminal justice residential setting serving individuals with co-occurring disorders.

Jane has held a range of roles, including counselor, supervisor, manager, and clinical leader. In each, she has demonstrated her ability to provide high-quality care while ensuring that her teams remain aligned with their mission and purpose. Her current role is as a full-time outpatient therapist. She also provides individual clinical supervision.

Encouraged by a MCBAP Board member who was providing supervision training that Jane attended, she joined the MCBAP Board of Directors. She was drawn to the opportunity to support the professional credentialing body while contributing to a mission she strongly believes in. Since joining the board, she has valued its supportive culture and mission-focused work. She is known for keeping board discussions on point, asking practical and insightful questions, and ensuring that attention remains centered on advancing high standards for substance use professional practice in Michigan.

Jane’s advice for those in the process of obtaining a MCBAP credential is to talk through small issues before they become larger ones. For those who already hold a credential, she emphasizes that the skills used when working with substance use disorders are also effective when working with anyone who is trying to change behavior.

Outside of her professional work, Jane enjoys reading, hiking, knitting, and traveling. One of her top personal goals is to visit all seven continents, a pursuit she has already begun, having visited three to date.
