Joel’s longstanding commitment to the MCBAP board reflects his dedication to advancing the growth and professionalism of the substance use disorder (SUD) field, as well as his belief in the importance of specialized credentials to ensure quality services for those affected by SUD.
Joel Hoepfner has been an integral member of the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) Board of Directors since 2012. Throughout his tenure, he has served in various leadership roles. Joel’s commitment to the board reflects his dedication to advancing the growth and professionalism of the substance use disorder (SUD) field, as well as his belief in the importance of specialized credentials to ensure quality services for those affected by SUD.
In addition to his work with MCBAP, Joel has nearly 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a teaching certificate from Central Michigan University. He is currently the Prevention and Outreach Coordinator at the Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, Ingham (CMHA-CEI) and a Certified Prevention Consultant (CPC). Joel is also a contracted training consultant for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), where he provides a variety of annual trainings to the behavioral health workforce.
Joel’s expertise extends beyond MCBAP, with active roles on several other boards and workgroups, including the With One Voice Board, Michigan Association for Suicide Prevention (MASP), the State of Michigan Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup, and the Tri-County Crisis Intervention Team. He is known for his leadership in providing state, community, and agency-wide trainings, workshops, and webinars on diverse topics.
Outside of his professional commitments, Joel enjoys spending time with his family, playing hockey, coaching soccer, and engaging in his hobbies as an avid fisherman and collector.
