Larry’s personal journey has significantly influenced his professional path. Having
faced challenges in passing the IC&RC examination himself, he is passionate about ensuring that others, especially those from underrepresented communities, have the support they need.

Larry Davis has been an active member of the MCBAP Board of Directors since 2023. His involvement with MCBAP is deeply rooted in his commitment to advancing substance use disorder counseling, particularly by helping individuals from diverse backgrounds succeed in obtaining MCBAP credentials.

Professionally, Larry serves as the Mental Health Court Liaison for Oakland Community Health Network and is an experienced Implicit Bias Instructor. His extensive background includes working in various inpatient, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment programs with organizations such as Meridian Health Services and SHAR House. He also provides implicit bias training across Michigan, both online and on-site.

Larry holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Ashland University and has shared his expertise as a CADC subject matter expert with IC&RC. His dedication to the field is further evidenced by his pursuit of the Certified Clinical Supervisor credential, reflecting his desire to practice substance use counseling at the highest recognized level.

Larry’s personal journey has significantly influenced his professional path. His lived experience with alcohol use disorder within his family has also shaped his dedication to the field.

Outside of his professional life, Larry is an avid fan of both The Golden Girls and Batman. He enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly in hot weather, where he can indulge in his love for running and walking.

Larry is committed to representing MCBAP and his community with integrity and dedication, using his knowledge and expertise to make a positive impact on the field of substance use counseling.
